Attorney General to decide Ryan Ferguson bond motion today
The Missouri Attorney General has hours left to try and stop a motion that would allow Ryan Ferguson to be released from prison on bond.
Ferguson had his murder conviction overturned by the Missouri Western District Court of Appeals last Tuesday. His attorney, Kathleen Zellner, filed a motion the same day to get him out of prison on bond while the state decides whether to retry him.
In 2004, Ferguson was convicted of killing Columbia Sports Tribune sports editor Kent Heitholt on Halloween night 2001.
Attorney General Chris Koster was given seven days to stop the bond motion, which means Ferguson could walk out of prison Tuesday.
If Ferguson is released from prison Tuesday, it would be the first time he is out from behind bars since his arrest in March 2004.
