Pumpkin Festival brings thousands to small town

The tiny town of Hartsburg, Mo. saw an almost 30,000 percent increase in their normal population of just over 100 people during their annual Pumpkin Festival.

Festival committee members said 30,000 people packed the streets to enjoy fall-favorite activities.

Boone County Sheriffs and State Troopers made sure fest-goers were safe by assisting with parking and security.

The town may experience some traffic headaches with the increased population, but former festival committee member Jo Hackman said the town also reaps the benefits in tax revenues.

The last day of the festival is Sunday.
