Alleged conman arrested in Springfield

A man suspected of stealing from an elderly woman in Maries County is behind bars in Springfield.

The Vienna Police Department says Stacy Roy Eason, 46, of Houston, Mo., was arrested Wednesday in Springfield.

Officials say Eason is a conman and has been investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies statewide. They say he would trick elderly women to get inside their homes then steal from them.

On Sept. 25, Maries County prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Eason for second-degree burglary and felony stealing.

The week before, Vienna police say Eason, posing as a utility worker, entered the home of a 75-year-old woman and asked to borrow a tool. In this incident, Eason allegedly stole the woman’s wallet, which contained approximately $200, her ID, medical cards and debit card.
