Boone County pedestrian crash victim had to be removed from bus before wreck
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone County Sheriff's deputies removed a man from a Greyhound bus Sunday night before he was involved in a pedestrian crash on Highway 40.
Brandon Inman, 40, of Parsons, Tenn., was taken to a Columbia hospital with serious injuries after the incident.
Sheriff's department spokesman Capt. Brian Leer said the bus driver alleged Inman was intoxicated and being disruptive on the bus.
A deputy told Inman he would not be allowed back on the bus but that he could try to buy another ticket or get a room at the Midway Travel Plaza.
Leer said deputies cleared the scene at 8:40 p.m. and 8 minutes later Inman was involved in the crash.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Troopers told ABC 17 that Inman started walking across the highway after getting off the bus. Troopers said Inman had been walking slowly when he was hit.
Deputies did not arrest or cite Inman during the incident on the bus, Leer said. He included that deputies did not take Inman away from the area or escort him off the property.
It's unclear if Inman is still hurt from the crash. He was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries immediately after the crash, the highway patrol said. Hospital spokesman Eric Maze said the hospital didn't have any information for Inman as of Monday morning.
No other people were injured in the crash.
