3 adults, 3 children injured in Saline County crash

Three adults and three children were injured in a Wednesday evening car crash in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Kurtis Sims, 24, of Carrollton, Mo., was driving an SUV on Highway 65 near Route N around 6 p.m. when the crash happened.

Troopers say Sims overcorrected after the car traveled off the right side of the highway, causing the car to overturn.

Two passengers were ejected during the crash.

Chester Rice, 52, and Kassondra Schnakenberg, 25, suffered serious injuries and were transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia.

Sims and three children, 3 to 6 years in age, were taken to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Highway Patrol says the children were wearing safety devices, however, the three adults were not.
