Jefferson City Public School District approves tax rate.

The 2013 Jefferson City Public School District tax rate is approved for the year.

The school board met today and discussed the tax rate. The board unanimously agreed to a slight increase in the debt service levy.

The tax will go from $3.677 to $3.6934, a $.0164 change in levy from this year to last.

Jefferson City School District officials say they did not want to raise the tax too high because the economy has not been good.

Chief Financial Officer Jason Hoffman said, “The change is very, very minor. It’s a slight increase. We’ve been rolling back our tax rate the last four years. We didn’t want to raise the tax rates much because the economy has been so bad.”
