Columbia police investigating shots fired Saturday

Columbia police are investigating a shots fired incident that happened Saturday afternoon.

According to police, officers were flagged down by a resident near the intersection of Sexton Road and Jewell Avenue around 3:30 p.m. The resident informed officers of a disturbance in the 300 block of Highview Avenue.

Officers at the scene determined at least one shot was fired into a building at 309 Highview Ave.

Police say no injuries were reported in connection with the shooting, but witnesses were able to provide a suspect description.

That description has not been made available and police say they the investigation is ongoing.
