Software glitch exposes MO HealthNet personal information
The personal information of nearly 1,500 Missourians was mailed to the wrong address following a software glitch.
MO HealthNet says it is notifying 1,357 individuals that some of their information was mailed to an incorrect address by Infocrossing, Inc., one of the agency’s contractors.
The Department of Social Services says no medical or financial information was released but other information, including names, dates of birth, MO HealthNet identification account numbers, phone numbers, and the last four digits of social security numbers could be exposed.
Officials say the error was discovered on June 6 and since then, MO HealthNet has sent notices to those affected by the error.
HealthNet says there is no reason to believe that any identity theft has occurred, but they are offering free, continuous credit-monitoring services and identity theft consultation and restoration for two years to those affected.
