Trial date set for lake-area woman accused in murder-for-hire plot
CAMDENTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Camden County judge has scheduled a five-day trial for the lake-area realtor charged with attempting to hire someone to kill her ex-husband's mother.
Leigh Ann Bauman's trial is expected to start on March 14, 2022.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrested Bauman last month, she was charged with a single count of conspiracy to commit murder.
Bauman is accused of trying to pay someone $1,500 to kill her ex-husband's mother. Court documents say the person contacted a lawyer and recorded a conversation with Bauman while the plot was discussed.
Online court records say Bauman bonded out of custody on Monday. She had been held on a $400,000 cash or surety bond.
Bauman's probable cause statement said she wanted her former mother-in-law dead because she was straining Bauman's relationship with one of her children. She allegedly texted her children saying the woman would die.
A pre-trial conference was scheduled to start on Dec. 22, 2021. Online court records said all of the trial dates would be held at the Camden County Courthouse.
Court records said Camden County Circuit Judge Aaron Koeppen was assigned to Bauman's case on Wednesday. Previously, judge Matthew P. Hamner had overseen the case.
