Fire destroys Sunrise Beach home, damages another

A Thursday afternoon fire destroyed a home in Sunrise Beach and damaged a neighboring structure.

Firefighters were called to a home on Crane Cove Point and upon arriving, found a house fully engulfed in flames. Both Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District and Mid-County Fire Protection District responded to the fire.

Crews were able to put out the fire, but not before a nearby house also sustained damage.

According to an ABC 17 News crew at the scene, firefighters saved a kitten from the house fire.
