Shots fired Saturday morning in downtown Columbia

Columbia police are investigating a shots-fired incident early Saturday morning in downtown Columbia.

Officers found the suspect vehicle Saturday afternoon.

An ABC 17 News crew was on the scene at Eighth and Locust streets early Saturday when a Columbia police officer told them, “Go home. We have people shooting at each other outside Harpo’s. Go home.”

An ABC 17 news photojournalist was on Cherry and 10th minutes after the shots were fired, talking with people on the streets about what had just happened.

Saturday morning, Officer Latisha Stroer said the disturbance occurred in the alleyway on the east side of the 100 block of S. Ninth Street.

Stroer says the disturbance turned into shots fired, when officers heard five or six rapid gunshots.

Police confirmed no one was hurt.

An ABC 17 News photojournalist reported shell casings were found in a parking lot behind Quinton’s and Mackenzie’s Prime between Ninth and 10th streets on Locust.

A Harpo’s Bar & Grill employee told ABC 17 News on camera that a fight broke out outside the bar as it closed.
