COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou basketball coach Cuonzo Martin addressed the transfer frenzy surrounding his program and all of college hoops in a news conference on Wednesday.
You can watch the full news conference in the video player below.
According to several reports - the NCAA will allow football and basketball players to transfer one time without having to sit out a year.
"I really don't think there's anything wrong with it," Coach Martin said. "I just say to young men make sure you're doing it for the right reasons."
Mizzou has lost six players to the transfer portal this offseason: Xavier Pinson, Drew Buggs, Mark Smith, Ed Chang, Torrence Watson and Parker Braun.
Four of those six players have found a new place to play. Most recently, Torrence Watson committed to play for Elon.
The Tigers have also signed three players from the transfer portal: DaJuan Gordon, Amari Davis and Boogie Coleman.
"I think all three of those guys will help us tremendously just in their skill package and what they bring to the table," Coach Martin said.
Coach Martin confirmed outgoing seniors Jeremiah Tilmon, Dru Smith and Mitchell Smith have all signed, or plan to sign, with an agent. They will not be returning next season.
Mizzou still has two scholarships available.
"If we add one or two other pieces, I really like where we are," Coach Martin said.
