Jefferson City Public Schools increasing security

Jefferson City public schools are increasing their security for the coming school year.

Fifteen new high-definition security cameras have already been added to the area middle schools.

The district says that it hopes to have a buzz-in system at all of the public schools within the next four years.

Currently, Jefferson City Public Schools spends $190,000 on security every year.

David Luther, of Jefferson City Public Schools, says, “The No. 1 thing is student safety. It’s got to be. It goes way in front of the education a child is receiving. If a student is not safe or doesn’t feel safe, it’s hard for them to learn.”
