St. James man drowns at Lake of the Ozarks

A St. James man died Saturday morning after falling overboard at the Lake of the Ozarks.

35-year-old Johnny Ellis was walking to the back of a boat around 11:45 a.m. when he went off the side. The boat was at the 2.5 mile marker near Big Niangua.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol report stated a second person, a passenger, was on board. The death is being investigated as a drowning.

This is Troop F’s first boating fatality of 2013.
