Fulton woman arrested for threatening children
Police arrested Gwendolyn Bruce Wednesday night for chasing her children with a knife.
Officers were called to a disturbance at around 7:30 p.m. at a home on Pioneer Drive in Fulton.
The Callaway County prosecutor charged Bruce with second-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
Bruce could face up to 11 years in jail.
Court documents reveal Bruce was spanking her 6-year-old with a flip-flop and yelling.
Her 17-year-old son moved the younger son away.
Court documents read Bruce then grabbed a butter knife, then a steak knife and chased her 17-year-old son around the house.
Police say she was threatening to kill her son and chased him outside.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene and arrested Bruce.
“As a parent, it’s angering because I have four kids and there is no way that thought crosses my head even on the worse days so I couldn’t imagine what caused somebody to do that,” Lance Miller, Bruce’s neighbor, said.
The 6-year old and 17-year-old son are in the care of family members.
Bruce is in the Callaway County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
