Weather forces Relay for Life to move indoors
The potential for stormy weather has forced Columbia’s Relay for Life to move indoors.
Organizers determined Thursday to relocate Friday night’s events to inside the Columbia Mall due to the weather forecast. They said the well-being of participants was the decision for moving the event.
The relay had been scheduled to take place in the mall’s parking lot.
Organizers say all activities will go on as planned and they are working with the Columbia Mall to finalize plans. Mall entrances near MC Sports and between Dillard’s and Sears will stay open all night.
Officials say more than 1,000 walkers will participate in the event.
Currently, Mid-Missouri is under a slight risk of severe storms for Friday.
