Possible tornado reported in Pettis and Johnson counties

Parts of Mid-Missouri suffered damage Monday night due to severe storms, but the worst damage is being reported in Pettis and Johnson counties.

ABC 17 News crews in Johnson County report 30 to 40 houses severely damaged from storms.

In communities near Knob Noster and just to the west of Sedalia, several homes suffered roof damage.

Other damage include a boat and trailer that had been tossed from one yard to another. Trees and power lines were also snapped in the area.

The National Weather Service out of Kansas City will send a survey team to Pettis County on Tuesday to investigate damage and to determine if a tornado touched down in the county.

According to the Sedalia-Pettis County Emergency Manager, there is damage to outbuildings near La Monte along with trees and power lines down.
