LSU blanks Mizzou
The Missouri Tigers let another strong pitching performance from Rob Zastryzny go to waste Friday night, losing 2-0 to No. 2 LSU in the first game of a three-game series.
The junior lefty threw 7 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and one earned run, and striking out seven LSU hitters. The lone earned run he allowed came on a solo home run from Mason Katz, his 11th of the year.
LSU pitcher Aron Nola was even better against an over-matched Missouri lineup. The “other” Tiger starter in Taylor Stadium Friday evening struck out 10 Mizzou hitters over 7 2/3 shutout innings.
The hometown Tigers mustered only six hits against the LSU staff.
