Sinkhole near Lake of the Ozarks closes road

A road is closed near the Lake of the Ozarks because of a sinkhole. It is on Valley Road between Station Drive and School Road.

Public Works Director Matt Michalik told ABC 17 News another portion of the road is also in danger of caving. The asphalt has not collapsed yet, but the earth underneath it has washed away.

It started widening over the weekend, but workers think it will be fixed by the end of the week.

Michalik says it is critical the city fixes the road because the Magic Dragon car show will close down the street in about a month, and Valley Road serves as the main detour around the strip.

Businesses are still staying open, but you can only reach them from the northeast side of Highway 54.
