Beauty School Lockdown

A beauty college was on lockdown for two hours Saturday while police searched for a man with a gun. Students at Merrell University Esthetics were told to stay locked inside the two school buildings around 2 p.m. while police searched through the wooded area in the back of the campus. An instructor with the school said it wasn’t the first time they had locked down for police incidents, but this was the closest one yet. “Especially with the Sandy Hook happening, the girls were definitely scared and nervous,” said Krista Bonnot. “We try to keep it as low key as possible that way, we got a school with 60 women, it could probably get pretty dramatic so we kind of try to keep it under control.”Jefferson City police caught the suspect Saturday early evening and the school lifted the lockdown.
