Hospital Upgrades in the Works

A new Fulton State Hospital hinges on a massive new bonding proposal working its way through the Capitol.That’s because the proposal for a new 300-bed, high-security hospital would cost $211 million.Mental Health Department officials say ditching the old building could save $3 million in utilities, staffing and worker’s compensation.It would also make it a safer facility and opens up beds for treatment of sexually violent offenders.
