CPS Returns Money to Boone Co.

Columbia Public Schools is returning $250,000 back to Boone County.The money was originally given to the district to help with road construction costs for Battle High School in northeast Columbia.Monday night, the school board passed an agreement to give the money back to the county. Also in the agreement, the district is no longer required to pay for any additional roadwork at the high school or nearby elementary school.The county plans to use the money on road improvements in the area. One of those projects will include improvements to Route Z. The plan is to resurface the road, add shoulders, replace the bridge deck over I-70, and add a roundabout at the intersection of Route A and St. Charles Road.The Missouri Department of Transportation will present the preliminary designs for the project Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Boone County Government Center.
