Large Fire Destroys House

***UPDATE 5:50 P.M.***Officials say the fire started in the kitchen Tuesday afternoon. The blaze caused $170,000 in damage and the home is considered a total loss.***ORIGINAL STORY***Numerous emergency crews are on the scene of a large structure fire north of Columbia.Columbia and Boone County fire crews are battling a fire at a home at 7875 La Porte Ave., off Route B. Firefighters have called for additional resources.According to emergency crews, the roof is completely engulfed in flames and firefighters have been unable to enter because the roof may collapse. The home is considered a total loss.An ABC 17 News crew says thick black smoke can be seen as far away as the I-70 and Highway 63 connector.A news crew is at the scene.
