Tracking dangerous heat with little relief this week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear, hot, and humid with lows in the mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the low 90s. Heat index values between 103-105.

EXTENDED: The ridge of upper high pressure will be at its strongest on Tuesday, marking the hottest day in the low to mid-90s with a heat index between 105-107. We'll see the ridge hold for much of the week before trying to break down a touch as it wobbles at the end of the week. We may see this break down enough to produce enough forcing for some diurnally driven, or air mass thunderstorms tied to the peak heating of the day between Thursday and the weekend, but no noticeable cool down is on the horizon with highs still in the upper 80s by Sunday with a heat index approaching 100. Be sure to have ways to stay cool and hydrated if you have plans to be outdoors for the 4th of July or related celebrations this week and weekend.
