Columbia Men Charged for Scam

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has charged two Columbia men in connection with a construction scam.Joshua B. Whitlock and Kendale Lamont Williams are each charged with three counts of felony stealing by deceit and three counts of felony unlawful merchandising practices.The Attorney General’s office says the pair were operating under the business name, “Select Living Designs,” and took thousands of dollars to build structures for clients. Koster alleges that the pair would cash the checks and then never return to start the work.Both men were arrested. Williams posted a $30,000 bond, while Whitlock was extradited from the state of Nevada and is currently in the Boone County Jail.If found guilty, both men face up to seven years in prison and $20,000 fine for each of the three stealing by deceit charges. They face up to four years in prison and $20,000 fine for each of the three unlawful merchandising practices counts.
