Woman pleads guilty in crash that killed Columbia pedestrian
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A woman who hit and killed a man who was picking up cones on Grindstone Parkway after a triathlon pleaded guilty this week to manslaughter.
Regine McCracken pleaded guilty Monday in a Boone County courtroom to manslaughter and three misdemeanors -- fourth-degree assault, careless driving and driving without a license. McCracken's sentencing is set for May 5.
Prosecutors charged McCracken last July after her car slammed into other vehicles including a Columbia Police Department cruiser in May. McCracken also hit Randall Siddens, who died in November from his injuries. She was initially charged with assault but that was upgraded to manslaughter and DWI causing death after Siddens died.
Investigators said McCracken was using her cellphone for a video call at the time of the crash and was driving 68 mph in a 50 mph zone on Grindstone Avenue.
