Tracking the return of the 70’s this afternoon

staying warm

MONDAY: It’ll be another sunny, but a little breezy, afternoon around Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will continue to climb, nearing 70 to kick off the week. However, winds out of the southwest and dry conditions will lead to a heightened fire danger.

TONIGHT: We pick up some clouds overnight, keeping us fairly mild with that southerly wind. Lows will only bottom out in the mid to upper 40’s.

EXTENDED: That warm start gets helped out with some more sunshine on Tuesday, pushing highs comfortably into the 70’s. Clouds will increase once again Tuesday night and will come with some light rain chances overnight. Those will last throughout much of the day on Wednesday, but temperatures look to get back into the 70’s. We’re tracking a frontal boundary that will make itself comfortable for the second half of the week. It’ll move in Wednesday night, triggering showers and thunderstorms as it does. Those will stick with us throughout the day on Thursday. Coverage will back up a bit into the weekend, but the threat of rain will be there all the way through Sunday. By the time next week rolls around, all of us will likely pick up 2-4” of rain, but we’ll need to be careful not to pick up too much too fast. We’ll be tracking temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s from Thursday on, but a lot of that has to do with where that front ends up wobbling.
