Tracking a cloudy end to the week

TODAY: Decreasing clouds with rain chances staying mainly south of Mid-Missouri. Breezy with highs in the mid-50s.

TONIGHT: A few leftover clouds stick around as lows fall into the mid 30s.

EXTENDED: This weekend looks wonderful with highs in the upper 50s Saturday and into the low 60s on Sunday. Next week is quite mild to start out as high pressure builds over us and a deep trough digs to our west, setting the stage for an active week. Southerly wind flow in the upper levels of the atmosphere will keep temperatures in the mid-upper 60s to start the week, and send multiple disturbances our way by the middle and end of the week. We'll have wind shear to work with, but the timing of these disturbances will determine if we see thunderstorms. Right now, we could see scattered showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front on Wednesday, and along the front into Thursday morning. If we can get a little more moisture and instability to work with, we'll have a better shot at seeing a few strong storms. Another system could bring rain and/or thunderstorms to the area next weekend. Temperatures should remain above average into the end of the week.
