Tracking the return of rain for the morning commute

rain filling in

THURSDAY: Rain has moved back in well ahead of our next cold front we’re tracking for this afternoon. Temperatures will start out in the 40’s this morning before slipping into the 30’s behind the front. Most of this looks to fall as liquid, but once the front moves through this afternoon, we’ll changeover to some snow. We’re not expecting anything more than a dusting on some elevated surfaces, but it will reduce the visibility on the roads as it falls. Timeframe for the snow will be from noon to about 5:00 PM before it all slides east.

TONIGHT: We’ll be left with some partly cloudy skies as temperatures continue to cool, into the middle 20’s overnight.

EXTENDED: Friday’s quiet with a slight westerly breeze, but some sunshine to try to make up for it. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to near 40. Saturday we’re tracking another disturbance that will bring with it some Arctic air overnight. As it moves through during the day, it looks to bring our next round of snow. Amounts look light, but with temperatures plummeting into the single digits overnight, any snow will be impactful. Timing for the snow looks to be during the afternoon, just ahead of the subzero wind chills expected. Things don’t improve much Sunday with highs in the teens and a slight chance for another shot at snow. Thinking our next best shot at precipitation will be Monday, but details are limited at this point. We might want to get used to the cold, it looks like it’s here to stay next week.
