Sheriff: Authorities shoot armed man who allegedly shot, wounded two women
TIPTON, Mo. (KMIZ) -
One man was shot by authorities in Tipton early Saturday morning after allegedly injuring two women.
Just before midnight on Friday, there were 911 calls for shots fired at an apartment complex in the 400 block of High Street.
When they arrived, Tipton police officers and Moniteau County Sheriff's deputies found a 48-year-old woman with multiple gunshots wounds and a 28-year-old with a head laceration.
Witnesses told authorities that 43-year-old Bobby Moore of Sedalia confronted the 28-year-old at her home. Moore and the woman had previously dated, according to a statement from Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley.
During the confrontation, the woman's 48-year-old mother came outside. At that point, Moore drew a handgun, shot the mother multiple times and hit the 28-year-old in the head with the firearm.
The 48-year-old was taken to University Hospital in a helicopter for surgery. As of Saturday, she is now in stable condition. The 28-year-old was treated and released from the hospital.
After the shooting, law enforcement officers from several agencies began a search for Moore.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, Moore was found near the St. Andrews Catholic School on West Cooper Street. He was armed, according to Wheatley, and approached the officers while holding a gun.
After ordering Moore to drop the gun, authorities shot him five times. He fell to the ground and authorities began medical treatment. Moore was later flown to University Hospital.
As of Saturday afternoon, Moore was in stable condition after surgery. He is charged with assault, armed criminal action, unlawful firearm possession by a convicted felon and more, according to Wheatley.
