Some Columbia roads see lasting impacts after winter weather

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Some roads in and around Columbia are seeing some lasting impacts from Wednesday's winter weather.

Ashlyn Sherman with Columbia Public Works said crews got in at 7 a.m. to replace night crews and continue to treat priority roads against refreeze due to cold temperatures.

Sherman said public works is hopeful the warmer temperatures will help combat the refreeze as well.

The MoDOT Traveler Information Map shows that main highways in Columbia such as I-70 and Highway 63 remain mostly clear, however, that map does not show smaller roads.

Those lasting impacts will be mostly found on side streets, neighborhood roads and parking lots.

Glenwood Avenue, right off of Broadway in Columbia hadn't seen much if any treatment as of Thursday morning.

Hawthorne Drive, located in East Campus is also mostly covered with snow. Other residential streets saw some re-freeze with the below-freezing temperatures overnight.

Most major roads such as Broadway, Stadium, College and Providence were mostly clear with only occasional slick spots.
