Mizzou football lands WR transfer from Ohio State

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Former Ohio State wide receiver Mookie Cooper has committed to play for Mizzou, according to his post on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Cooper did not catch a pass during his freshman year at Ohio State. In fact, he has not played since 2018.

The St. Louis native played at Trinity Catholic High School for three seasons before transferring to Pattonville for his senior year. MSHSAA ruled him ineligible to play his final year in high school.

As a junior at Trinity, Cooper caught nine touchdowns to help lead his team to its first ever Class 3 state championship in 2018. Cooper won that state title on Faurot Field.

The four-star recruit was the No. 2 overall prospect in Missouri in the 2020 class, according to Rivals.

The 5'10" wide out has four years of eligibility remaining, but it's still unclear if he'll be able to play for the Tigers next season. Due to NCAA transfer rules, he may have to sit out a season.
