Columbia man sentenced 15 years for 2019 shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A judge sentenced a Columbia man to 15 years in prison for in a shooting of a man on June 26, 2019.

Cortez Brimmage pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and other charges for his role in the shooting.

Cortez got into a fight in the 1500 block of Tupelo Place in Columbia and during the fight went and got a gun. Cortez then shot and killed David Morgan.

Two other co-defendants also pleaded guilty in the case.

Brimmage also pleaded guilty to illegally having a gun during a 2018 shooting in the same area.
