The commission is scheduled to meet Monday at 8 a.m. to discuss the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the county.

This comes as case trends have been going up all month. According to Boone County's COVID-19 dashboard, 15 of the 20 days reported in November have had over 100 new daily COVID-19 cases.

The county also broke it's record for the most new cases in a day, with 222 on Nov. 5.

Hospitalizations have been a key statistic city leaders have been watching closely this month.

There are currently 153 patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 however, only 35 of those are Boone County residents.

Hospitals in neighboring counties such as St. Mary's Hospital in Cole County have had to transport patients to Boone hospitals after reaching capacity.

The local Boone County health care system capacity status is currently listed as yellow.

The 14 day case rate used by Columbia Public Schools has skyrocketed in November. The district currently sits at 107.9 cases per 10,000 people.

That number is well above the mark of 50 cases per 10,000, the benchmark that CPS leaders said would prompt them to consider moving completely virtual.

Local leaders announced Nov. 13 that they'd be extending the city's current health order an additional three weeks. The order is set to expire on Dec. 8 if not amended prior.

The commission did not release if they'd be discussing an amendment to that order.
