Camden County man accused of sexual contact with a child
CAMDENTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
Camden County prosecutors have charged a Macks Creek man with seven felonies relating to alleged sexual contact with a child younger than 14 years old.
Andrew Helm, 44, is charged with multiple counts of first-degree child molestation and first-degree statutory sodomy. He was arrested Tuesday, according to court documents.
Court documents say authorities first received allegations against Helm in 2013. A child told police that Helm touched her sexually and that it had happened several times at three locations, according to the probable cause statement.
Documents say Helm denied the allegations.
Deputies with the Camden County Sheriff's Office reopened the investigation this year. Court documents say investigators interviewed the victim, who maintained that Helm sexually touched her when she was younger. In the interview, the victim said the sexual contact started six to eight years before the first allegation, investigators said.
A judge set Helm's bond at $100,000 and he remained in jail Wednesday. Online court records don't show any scheduled hearings in the case.
