Columbia community leader dies, annual Thanksgiving meal to continue
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A release from Almeta Crayton Community Programs said Kentrell Minton, 37, passed away Wednesday night from health complications.
Minton was the founder and executive director of the local organization that worked to bring the community together.
"[Minton] was the Executive Director of the Almeta Crayton Community Programs, godson to former city councilperson Almeta Crayton, a serial entrepreneur, a loving husband, family man, mentor to all, and a true 'foot soldier' for the CoMo community and for his lord," the release said.
The organization holds two annual events, the Poor Man's Breakfast and Everybody Eats, both of which feed hundreds every year.
Anthony Crayton, president of Almeta Crayton Community Programs, said the organization will continue working for the community.
"ACCP will continue to do god’s work. We will carry on what has been put before the dedicated people that love this City of Columbia. We owe it to Kentrell and Almeta to see about the less fortunate, that was their calling from God," Crayton said in the release.
The organization will hold the 23rd annual Everybody Eats on Thanksgiving day at the Columbia Senior Center from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Those attending will not be able to eat in-person because of the pandemic, the release said.
Thanksgiving basket pick-up will also be available on Nov. 23-24 at Russell Chapel from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
