Trump campaign's Nevada legal effort is over
UPDATE 5:30 P.M.: A legal effort in Nevada by President Donald Trump's campaign and state Republicans to try to stop the count of mail ballots in Las Vegas is over, The Associated Press reported.
A document submitted in an appeal pending before the state Supreme Court says the campaign, state GOP, Democrats and attorneys for the state have reached a settlement requiring Clark County election officials to supply “additional observation access” at a ballot processing facility in Las Vegas.
The state high court declined on Election Day to stop the count based on an appeal of a state judge’s decision not to stop processing mail ballots in Las Vegas and surrounding Clark County -- a Democratic stronghold in an otherwise red GOP state.
In an order released Monday, Judge James Wilson Jr. in Carson City said he found neither the state nor Clark County had done anything to give one vote preference over another.
Nevada Democrats accuse Republicans of trying to suppress voting in the state’s most diverse area.
Trump campaign representatives said Thursday that they intended to file another complaint in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas to try to stop the counting of what state campaign co-chair Adam Laxalt called “improper votes.” That lawsuit was not immediately filed.
UPDATE 3:46 P.M.: Democrat Joe Biden is telling his supporters to “stay calm” as votes continue to be counted and that he feels “very good” about the outcome of the presidential election.
Biden says, "It is the will of the voters — no one, not anyone else — who chooses the president of the United States of America.”
Biden says that “democracy is sometimes messy” and “we’ll know very soon” the outcome of the election.
Biden gave his remarks Thursday at a downtown Wilmington, Delaware theater.
Senate control hangs in balance with a few races undecided
UPDATE 2:40 P.M.: It's two days after Election Day and control of the Senate is still hanging in the balance with a few races still undecided.
Republicans trounced Democratic challengers in crucial states on election night but the GOP failed to lock down the seats needed to retain their majority. One race in Georgia is headed to a Jan. 5 runoff. And contests in Georgia, North Carolina and Alaska haven't been decided. So that leaves the Senate deadlocked with 48 Republicans and 48 Democrats right now.
With the presidential race also undecided, the Senate in limbo because the vice president of the eventual winner’s party would serve as a tie-breaker.
Judges dismiss Trump claims in Georgia, Michigan
UPDATE 1:35 P.M. Judges in Georgia and Michigan have quickly dismissed Trump campaign lawsuits, undercutting a campaign legal strategy aimed at attacking the integrity of the voting process in states where the result could mean President Donald Trump’s defeat, The Associated Press reported.
The rulings came Thursday as Democrat Joe Biden inched closer to the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House. In Pennsylvania, meanwhile, the Trump campaign won an appellate ruling to get party and campaign observers closer to election workers who are processing mail-in ballots in Philadelphia. But the order did not affect the counting of ballots that is proceeding in Pennsylvania.
Biden campaign attorney Bob Bauer called the Republican legal challenges meritless.
Georgia judge dismisses Trump campaign lawsuit
UPDATE 11 A.M.: A judge in Georgia has dismissed a lawsuit by the state Republican Party and President Donald Trump's campaign that asked him to ensure a coastal county was following state laws on processing absentee ballots, The Associated Press reported.
Chatham County Superior Court Judge James Bass did not provide an explanation for his decision Thursday at the close of a roughly one-hour hearing. The county includes the heavily Democratic city of Savannah.
The suit had raised concerns about 53 absentee ballots that poll observers said were not part of an original batch of ballots. County elections officials testified that all 53 ballots had been received on time.
UPDATE 10:50 A.M.: The campaigns of former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump held news conferences Thursday morning.
Biden's campaign updated the vote count in several states, expressing confidence in a win in Pennsylvania and nationwide. The Trump campaign announced legal action in Nevada, alleging voting irregularities in Clark County, home of Las Vegas.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said to WSB-TV in Atlanta fewer than 25,000 ballots still need to be counted. Raffensperger added votes should be finalized by 11 a.m.
The presidential race has tightened in Georgia with about 18,500 votes separating former vice president Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
As of Thursday morning, Trump still leads the state with 49.6% of the vote to Biden's 49.2%.
According to the ABC News electoral college map, Biden has 253 votes compared to Trump's 214.
Trump won the state in 2016. Georgia could be the latest state to flip Democrat after Wisconsin, Arizona and Michigan were called on Tuesday.
