Neighbors say teen shot at high school house party

Witnesses say it was a high school house party gone wrong and now Columbia police are looking for a suspect who shot a teen.

CPD has not released a suspect description yet.

Neighbors tell ABC 17 News this was a house party thrown by Rock Bridge high school students, but around midnight, shots were fired at the home --- leaving it with multiple bullet holes.

"I first heard like a crash which kind of sounded like a ladder falling, and then it followed up by two gunshots," said Emily Stelzer, a neighbor.

Columbia police officers were called to the home in the 2500 block of Shepard blvd. just before midnight.

"I just saw like a bunch of kids running to their cars," Stelzer said.

Official reports say later an 18-year-old male arrived at a local emergency room for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound to an arm.

At a gathering called Destiny of Hope where local gun violence activists came together today, they said the shootings need to stop.

"Please put the guns down it's not worth it, you're going to go to jail for the rest of your lives, it's not worth it," said Kandas Holmes-Barnes, an all lives matter activist.

"We need to exploit positive reinforcement and resources for the youth to be able to take them out of those negative situations and give them the opportunity to express their skills talent and education," said P.J. Miles, a volunteer.

According to our reports, this is the second shooting in two days in Columbia.

Two days ago, a home on Riva Ridge Court was also struck by bullets but no one was hurt.

If you have any information on these shootings you're asked to call Columbia police or Crimestoppers to stay anonymous.
