Tracking some dangerous fire weather today
WEDNESDAY: It’s going to be windy this afternoon, with gusts around 35-40 mph later today, leading to some dangerous fire weather conditions. As dry as it has been, small grass fires can quickly get out of hand, so any burning today is discouraged. Those winds will bump up temperatures into the low to mid 80’s today.
TONIGHT: Things settle down after sunset with lows falling into the lower 50’s. Clouds will be on the increase throughout the night as winds shift to a more northerly direction.
EXTENDED: Those increasing clouds may come with a few sprinkles tomorrow morning, but look to move east by the afternoon. Those breezy conditions will be stubborn to leave, along with the 50’s. Highs both Thursday and Friday will only manage the upper 50’s to some 60’s. The coldest morning will be Friday morning, with lows dipping into the middle 30’s, so some patchy frost is possible. We’ll thaw out Saturday with highs back near 70 before another front moves in Sunday. That front will bring some meaningful rain chances, and depending on where it moves after the weekend, could keep them around next week. Timing’s still flimsy with quite a bit of uncertainty on the other side of the weekend so stay tuned.
