MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

On Monday afternoon, the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to a reported shooting on the 1300 block of N Washington.

After arriving, officers found a 19-year-old man with what appeared to be a close range gunshot wound to the leg.

Officials say the man was sitting on his friend's front porch when he was shot in the leg by an unknown man. The shooting suspect then ran away.

Several neighbors heard the gunshot and saw the victim limping from home, but Mexico Public Safety has not found anyone yet who saw a person running from the area.

Audrain Ambulance District transported the victim to University Hospital where he was treated and released.
