Jefferson City police say a woman was injured in a shooting just after midnight Monday morning.

Police department spokesman Lt. David Williams said in an email the woman was found near the intersection of Hickory and Monroe street with a gunshot wound.

The email said the woman is expected to recover and she was transported from the scene by EMS workers.
