Police: Monday night shooting investigation closed portion of north Columbia road

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police blocked part of Clark Lane in north Columbia for a shooting investigation Monday night.

Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Brittany Hilderbrand said in an email Monday morning police closed the road after a passenger in a car was hurt by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to a Boone County Joint Communications tweet, a "police incident" closed a lane of the road near the Highway 63/Interstate-70 connector.

"Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Clark Lane and the connector, and discovered a passenger in the vehicle had a gunshot wound to the leg," Hilderbrand said.

Officers gave the person medical aid, the passenger was later taken to a nearby hospital, Hilderbrand said.

An ABC 17 News crew said at least five police vehicles were parked in that area around 11 p.m.

Hilderbrand said investigators were looking into the shooting. She included no one was arrested in connection with the shooting.
