Tracking strong storms by Wednesday morning

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and muggy with lows in the low 70s. A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move in well after midnight, bringing potentially periods of heavy rain and gusty winds.

TOMORROW: Morning storms will keep temperatures a bit cooler, and mainly stay north of I-70 through midday. Another round of storms could develop across the I-44 corridor by late afternoon as a cold front slides south, and some of these storms could be severe thanks to more heating during the day. Highs reach the upper 80s north and low 90s south.

EXTENDED: The front responsible for Wednesday's storms will move south across southern Missouri into Thursday, potentially triggering a few storms along the I-44 corridor and near the Lake of the Ozarks. Temperatures begin to increase as the boundary lifts back north as a warm front on Friday. Rain chances will be slim, but heat indices climb to near 100 on Friday. Extreme heat settles in through the weekend with highs in the upper 90s and heat indices between 103-105 through at least Monday. Be sure to limit your time outdoors and stay hydrated.
