COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police are investigating a shooting in northeast Columbia that damaged one vehicle early Friday morning.

Officers at the scene said they responded to the 5400 block of Kelsey Drive shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday.

According to CPD, the shooting left at least one vehicle damaged. A round also hit a gas meter in the area. Crews from Ameren fixed the meter and officers said there is no longer any danger to the neighborhood.

No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.

Police said witnesses reported at least two people running to a nearby vehicle and driving away. In a news release sent late Friday morning police said the car was an older, white, four-door sedan.

Police said two homes were also damaged.

The Violent Crime Task Force is investigating the shooting, according to the release.
