COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hundreds of people marched throughout Columbia on Tuesday night.

The protest started at 7 p.m. and lasted about three hours. The group started at the columns on the University of Missouri campus and ended at the columns at the Boone County Courthouse.

Tuesday night marked the latest in a series of local demonstrations held in response to George Floyd's death. There have been several protests in Columbia since Floyd died at the hands of Minneapolis police on May 25.

Officers with the Columbia Police Department walked along with the protesters Tuesday night. Officers have been using several tactics to help keep people and property safe during ongoing demonstrations, including drones and communicating with event organizers.

During the march, the police department also tweeted out which roads would be temporarily blocked throughout the night.

CPD also tweeted that the University of Missouri Police Department was also following the protest. Around 8:30 p.m., the department tweeted that all roads were open.

After arriving at the courthouse, different members of the group spoke to the crowd. The demonstration ended just after 10 p.m.
