Robbers who claim to be FBI leave one man hospitalized

Columbia police are searching for four suspects after a home invasion and robbery Saturday in Columbia left one victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Columbia Police Department said four suspects claiming to be with the FBI entered the home in the 1100 block of Eastland Circle around 10 p.m. and ordered the people inside to get on the ground.

Police said one victim was shot in the leg and was sent to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the robbers got away in a red truck with some of the victim's property.

The robbers were dressed in normal dark civilian clothes, police said.

"When we enter a home for enforcement action, law enforcement will always be clearly identifiable as police," Columbia police chief Geoff Jones said in a news release.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound and applied a tourniquet, according to the release.

"We will identify and arrest those who are responsible and would appreciate any help the community can provide," Jones said.
