Tracking afternoon rain chances, nice weekend ahead

THIS AFTERNOON: A line of showers and thunderstorms continues to rotate from northwest to southeast from the Kansas City metro area. The rain will arrive to our western counties by early afternoon and progress through the rest of the viewing area through the evening hours. Have the umbrella ready if you plan on being out this evening.

TONIGHT: Rain will taper off by midnight. Temperatures fall into the mid to upper 50s.

EXTENDED: We finally get to enjoy a whole day without rain chances on Friday. Lots of sunshine will help temperatures into the middle 70's but will feel better without the humidity. A northerly breeze will keep things from feeling hot in the afternoon also. We're tracking a quick-moving system Saturday that looks to bring some clouds to kick off the weekend. There's a chance we can squeeze out a shower or two into the overnight hours, but there's a better chance we stay dry at this point. Highs are parked in the middle 70's even into Sunday, so some great weather to get out and enjoy! We start warming up next week while we keep the dry weather. Monday we'll get back into the 80's, and into the middle 80's by Wednesday.
