Tracking rain chances for the rest of the week
TUESDAY: Some light rain south of HWY 50 this morning will thin out in coverage this afternoon. Those clouds will stick around for most, if not all, of us this afternoon. That will keep highs in the 50's for another day, even with most of us staying dry.
TONIGHT: Those same folks will see another round of light showers tonight. Coverage looks to stay south of I-70. Even with rain around, lows will only fall to near 50 tonight.
EXTENDED: A warm front will be lifting north throughout the day Wednesday. That looks to provide the focus for some showers and storms toward the afternoon along with some warmer weather. There's a marginal chance one or two of those storms is strong as highs top out in the middle 60's. With the warm front to our north Thursday, we'll see another day with a favorable environment for some storms. Again, some of these could become strong to severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts the primary threats. A third round in as many days appears possible Friday. Our environment will need to be reevaluated again but we're in the time of year where severe weather chances start peaking. With this stubborn frontal boundary providing multiple chances for storms, flooding could become a concern by the weekend. Rainfall amounts look to be in the 1-2” neighborhood but much more could become a problem. Be sure to check back later this week as details continue to be ironed out.
