Intern Tyler’s tip of the week: May 4, 2020

Without further ado, here's Tyler:

The Border War is back, but Mizzou fans will have to wait quite a while to see the rivalry renewed. The Tigers also added a couple new recruits this week – recruits that will graduate before Missouri and Kansas play each other again in 2025. 

LOCAL:

• Border War dates officially set: Missouri and Kansas haven’t taken the football field against one another since 2011, the Tigers’ final season in the Big 12. The schools announced the rivalry will renew with four games over the course of seven years. The schools will play at Faurot Field in 2025 and 2031 and head to Lawrence in 2026 and 2032. 
• Mizzou football adds two recruits: Coach Eli Drinkwitz’s campaign to “secure the borders” rolled on as Mizzou added DE Travion Ford, a four-star prospect from Lutheran North High School in St. Peters, Missouri. The Tigers also branched out of Missouri and added Darius Jackson, a three-star cornerback from Texas.
• Tray Jackson transfers to Seton Hall: As a freshman, Jackson appeared in 26 games for Mizzou, averaging 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in just over eight minutes per game. He announced his plans to transfer back in March. Kobe Brown is the only remaining recruit from the Class of 2023. Guard Mario McKinney transferred to an Illinois junior college after being suspended from the team in January. 
• Chiefs part with longest tenured player, add free agents: Punter Dustin Colquitt played 15 seasons with Kansas City, but the Chiefs released him on Tuesday.  Later in the week, the Chiefs added former Dolphins DE Taco Charlton and former Michigan QB Shea Patterson as an undrafted free agent to potentially back up Patrick Mahomes.

NATIONAL:

• National Baseball Hall of Fame cancels 2020 Induction Weekend: The Board of Directors announced the cancellation Wednesday. This year’s inductees included Yankees legend Derek Jeter and former St. Louis Cardinal Larry Walker. The 2020 Hall of Fame Class will be inducted with the 2021 Hall of Fame Class next summer.
• Cowboys sign Andy Dalton: Dalton signed a one-year deal with Dallas worth up to $7 million. He has been the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals since 2011 but was ushered out after Cincinnati selected Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow first overall in last month’s NFL draft.
