Wind knocks over electric pole

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Strong winds knocked over an electric pole in Boone County as storms swept across Mid-Missouri on Tuesday.

It happened on Route K at McBaine city limits before 6 p.m.

Crews from Columbia Water & Light, the Boone County Fire Protection District and a deputy responded to the scene. Columbia Water & Light said strong winds caused the damage.

As of 6:30 p.m., Columbia Water & Light was waiting on additional crews to arrive with more materials to repair the pole.

Boone County Joint Communications also reported flooding at Brown School Road and Clearview just before 6 p.m.


Several people also reported pea-sized hail in parts of Columbia.

The storm also impacted parts of Cooper County. According to Ameren's outage map, about 400 customers lost power near Boonville around 5:30 p.m.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team issued a Weather Alert Day ahead of the storms.
